Description

Bill Ward Laugh Riot June-1959 Single Panel Gag Cartoon Illustration Original Art (Humorama, 1959). "You're being an Indian Giver, Mr. Blunt. That lipstick was your first gift to me, and now you're trying to take it back!" Surprisingly, the Ward Girl is not the most questionable thing about this gag... she is quite statuesque and striking as you would expect. It's that outdated punchline! It was published again in the February-1969 ZIP, and then again in the January-1973 Cartoon Parade. (At least one of those times it had a new punchline.) Created in ink and charcoal with white paint highlights over graphite on 13" x 17.75" art paper. This has been affixed to a slightly larger Bristol backing board. The board is creased, but that has not affected the art paper. Toned and in Very Good condition.
