Description
Bernie Wrightson Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's Frankenstein Unused Illustration Original Art (c. 1975). As noted on page 284 (with this art appearing on page 285) in the book Berni Wrightson: A Look Back, this was the very first illustration produced by Wrightson for his seminal Frankenstein adaptation. Wrightson was not completely satisfied with how the Monster's face turned out, and as a result never finished inking the piece. The Marvel illustrated novel was one of the two most defining works by the celebrated Master of the Macabre (the other being his work on DC's Swamp Thing). Whereas Heritage has offered a few pieces of art from this classic horror tale before, as this was where he began his journey working on this six-year project, it makes this one of the most significant pieces from the book we have ever seen. Created in ink and graphite, the work is signed in the matted 14" x 20" image area. It is Plexiglas front framed to 20.25" x 26.25". In Excellent condition.More information about Bernie Wrightson.
