Description

Bernie Wrightson - Frankenstein and his Monster Illustration Original Art (c. 1966-67). One of Bernie Wrightson's most highly-regarded projects was his adaptation of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's Frankenstein. Here we offer what might be one of his earliest efforts to capture the Monster of Frankenstein. The piece is signed "Berni" Wrightson, and it shows he was still heavily influenced by Karloff's depiction of the monster from the movies. The figure work and the level of detail show a master artist in the making. Ink and watercolor over graphite on Bristol board, it has a matted image area of 10.5" x 12.5". Signed in the lower right margin. There are corner creases, and one through the image area in the lower left corner. Glass front framed to 16" x 18". Toned and in Very Good condition.
