Description

Bernie Wrightson - Fantasy Illustration Original Art (c. late 1970s). This partially-inked pencil illustration is drawn in a style consistent with the period in which Bernie Wrightson was creating detailed fantasy posters for Christopher Enterprises. As noted in Berni Wrightson: A Look Back, "By Mid-1975 Bernie Wrightson was at a crucial stage of his developing career. After having spent six years in the comics, he had achieved almost every imaginable success. It was time to move on and move up. A new direction had to be found. Christopher Zavisa and Chris Hoth had created a market for high-quality posters and limited-edition print portfolios and the Christopher Enterprises stable of artists included such fan-favorites as Mike Kaluta, Neal Adams, Roy G. Krenkel, and Alex Nino. It was only fitting that Bernie Wrightson would also join up." The image area of this graphite and ink on textured paper scene measures 17.5" x 23", and the piece has been matted to an overall size of 23.25" x 29". The art is in Excellent condition, and it's signed at the lower left.
