Description

Alex Ross Earth X Design Illustrations Original Art (Marvel, 1997). In 1997, Wizard Magazine asked Alex Ross to design a dystopian Marvel Universe of the future. That issue sold out and created a demand for more. When it was reprinted, that sold out as well and lead to three different mini-series of material based on that original series of character pieces. This page shows he was still working out some of the designs, as evidenced by the six-armed Spider-Man, and Daredevil on a 3-wheel chopper instead of his 2-wheel hog. Another innovation that didn't seem to make it to the book was the Iron Man inspired "living tank". Of particular interest are two graphite notes that read "Get Dave to Help!", and "Need Dave Johnson to help design: The Stark Army, Galactus, Daredevil, X-Men, Dr. Doom". Whether Dave Johnson did so or not is unconfirmed. These images are pure Alex Ross graphite on 11" x 17" scrap paper. It is actually the backside of a photocopy of a rough layout for the wrap-around cover of Wizard #75 featuring the JLA. This graphite original art piece is great looking and features Reed Richards (in Doctor Doom's armor), Iron Maiden, Black Bolt, and Daredevil. In Excellent condition.
