Alex Niño Heavy Metal 1979 Calendar Illustration Painting Original Art (1978). Alex Niño's early fantasy and sword and sorcery artwork in the 1970s was different from the rest of his fellow Filipino artists, and this incredible color painting showcases his more ethereal and baroque style perfectly. This piece is in the style of his 1976 Fantasy Worlds of Alex Niño portfolio; however, it was not part of that set. It appears to have not been published until the December 1978 release of this calendar. Produced in mixed media on illustration board. Glass front framed to 30" x 25" with an inner mat opening of 25" x 20". Signed and dated 1976 in the lower right. In Excellent condition.Auction Info
