Description

Alan Davis and Mark Farmer X-Men Series 2 Trading Cards Excalibur and Sat-Yr-9 Original Art (Marvel/Sky Box, 1993). The United Kingdom's premiere mutant team and one of their fiercest villains feature in these uncanny illustrations from Alan Davis! Following up on the prior years' incredibly successful line of X-Men trading cards featuring art from Jim Lee, SkyBox enlisted the assistance of a myriad of Marvel artists to recreate the magic, with Davis rendering many of the characters he co-created/popularized for the card series. The art for two separate cards is featured here, Excalibur and Sat-Yr-9. The Excalibur art features the expanded team lineup of Nightcrawler, Rachel Summers, Shadowcat, Captain Britain, Meggan, Lockheed, Cerise, Kylun, Widget, Micromax, and Feron alongside a headshot of Nightcrawler and a shot of Braddock Manor that featured on the back of the printed card. In addition to the larger portrait of Sat-Yr-9 alongside her multiversal troops, two additional illustrations of her created for the card's back are present. Created in ink over graphite on Marvel Bristol board with an overall image area of 5.5" x 16.5", there is corner/edge wear, discolored production tape, whiteout corrections, and some toning. Davis and inker Mark Farmer signed the small, individual illustrations, and Davis signed the piece again at the bottom right. In overall Excellent condition.
