Description

Al Feldstein Tales from the Crypt Cover Title/Logo Illustration Original Art (EC, 1950). This header originally appeared on Tales from the Crypt #20 (#1), the first issue of the newly retitled series, and was reprinted on the following issue, Tales from the Crypt #21. Advertising strange stories, Al Feldstein's shapely lettering conjures up images of wooden stakes, ghosts, ghouls, and other terrors, furthered even more by the startling visage of the Crypt Keeper himself! One of the most iconic comic titles of all time, Tales from the Crypt has far outlived the original series created by Bill Gaines and Feldstein. The legendary series has been reprinted, revived, and adapted in various forms across every possible medium, including comics, live-action and animated television, films, board games, videogames, and more. Even people unaware of EC Comics (or comics at all) know Tales from the Crypt, and this logo was the first to ever usher unsuspecting readers into the fateful series! Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 13.5" x 7". Horizontal creasing in the lower image area, whiteout, toning, and handling wear. In Excellent condition.
From the Roger Hill Collection.
