    Description

Harvey Kurtzman Al Capp's Li'l Abner #77 Complete 1-Page "Genius" Story (Toby Press, 1950). As a prelude to his breakthrough with MAD, Kurtzman contributed a variety of single-page filler-gags to a variety of titles and an assortment of publishers. This backup piece features a mischievous kid named Genius. The point of origin is indeed Abner #77, but the page also saw print elsewhere, including a Spanish-language comic called Juancito Salud -- as indicated by a rubber-stamp imprint, an editorial note, and Spanish in some of the panels. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15". Pronounced toning and spot-staining. Excellent condition.
