Description

Harvey Comics Artist Chic Young's Dagwood Comics #104 Complete 4-Page Story "Big Date" Original Art (Harvey Comics, 1959). Creator Chic Young had not drawn so much as a panel of Blondie or its spinoffs since the early 1950s, when his eyesight failed. His key assistants and various ghost-artists kept up the momentum, however, under Young's story supervision. He allowed a freer imaginative rein on the comic-book takeoffs (as opposed to the official Blondie newspaper strip) -- such as this offbeat tale of domestic turbulence among Blondie and Dagwood Bumstead and their teenage son, Alexander. The unbilled artist captures an old-fashioned air of Young's Depression/wartime style. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 9.5" x 14". Overall age-toning and scattered adhesive staining. Very Good condition.
