Hal Foster Tarzan Sunday Comic Strip #150 Original Art dated 1-21-34 Once Owned by Frank Frazetta (United Features Syndicate, 1934). It would be hard to imagine a better example of Hal Foster at his peak on the Sunday Tarzan page than this fabulous episode. Collectors generally look for four things in a Foster Tarzan, and this page has them all -- Tarzan shown in all panels; apes shown with Tarzan; a jungle setting with distinctive Foster foliage; and lots of action. Furthermore, this page has a unique provenance -- it was owned for forty years by Frank Frazetta, and was one of Frank's favorite pages, and was a definite influence on Frazetta's art in Thun'da and all of his 1950s comic art. Frank was friends with artists George Roussos and Fred Ray, and when a small group of original Fosters became available, the three artists bought them all, and Frank got three of the pages -- this one was his favorite, and you can see why. This page comes from late in the Egyptian sequence, and in this page Tarzan is declared King of the Apes because he had defeated the previous king, Modug. This remarkable page has an image area of 19.5" x 26.5", and it has been professionally cleaned to Excellent condition.
