Hal Foster Prince Valiant Sunday Comic Strip Panel Original Art (King Features Syndicate, 1943). Foster worked at such an immense scale that this single panel from a Prince Valiant Sunday strip measures a whopping 16" x 22.5". We've had spectacular panels in our day but never one more than 22 inches high before. When fans wrote the artist letters, he would often send them a single panel, such as this, as a "Thank You". This stunning example, featuring the young Val on horseback, overlooking a castle, is personalize and signed in the top of the image area, "To Miss Ruth Howard with Best Wishes, Hal Foster". Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board and matted to 22" x 28.5". In Excellent condition, the piece has slipped from its mounting in the mat, but is easily fixed.
