Greg Bear - Landscape Painting Original Art (1970). Fantasy painter Greg Bear has painted this eerie tableau, with its purple sky, in oil on canvas board. The image area measures 10" x 14", and the art is in Excellent condition. At age fifteen, Greg Bear sold his first story to Famous Science Fiction and in 1979 he sold his first novel, Hegira, to Dell. Greg's awards include Nebulas for his stories "Hardfought," "Blood Music" and "Tangents" and one for his novel, Moving Mars, and Hugo Awards for "Blood Music" and "Tangents." As an illustrator, Greg's artwork has appeared in magazines such as Galaxy, and Fantasy and Science Fiction, along with many hardcover and paperback books. Greg was also a founding member of ASFA, the Association of Science Fiction Artists. From the collection of Richard and Wendy Pini. Richard says: "This goes way back. I found this piece at a science fiction convention art show in the early 1970s, and was simply struck by the use of contrasting moody colors. A little while later, we met Greg Bear when he was working at the planetarium in Balboa Park in San Diego. Of course, he's known now for an impressive list of idea-stretching science fiction novels, but we always get a little smile at this first foray into the visual -- instead of verbal -- arts."
