Gill Fox - Feature Comics #54 Cover Original Art (Quality Comics, 1942). This historic Golden Age thriller was Gill Fox's first cover for Quality Comics. Gill recalled in a 2002 Jim Amash interview for Alter Ego, "The first cover I did completely was of Doll Man. Doll Man was holding a pair of scissors. I took artistic license with that because that would have cut his hands. We found out very early that Doll Man was popular. So he became the cover feature." Zero, Mickey Finn, Lala Palooza, and Poison Ivy also appear on this cover in cameo portraits. The image area of the cover is 8.75" x 12". The art is in Very Good condition, with only a few small stains, mostly outside of the image area. From the collection of Gill Fox.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
