    Description

George Herriman Krazy Kat Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-9-28 (International Feature Service, 1928). We love that surreal center panel! It's just there for looks... nothing to do with the story. Offissa Pupp is tryin' ta protec that lil' anjel Krazy Kat from the marauder mouse Ignatz. He is making sure nothing "asmack with evil" getz by him, but in spite of that, we still will get an off-panel implied bricking in the last panel! It's more Coconino County kookiness with that crazy hepcat lingo and that wunnerfal Herriman artwork rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 16.5" x 18.5". There is presstype lettering applied to the lower margin from an apparent exhibition of this piece at some point in the past. Signed by Herriman in the last panel. The toned board has light handling wear around the edges. In Excellent condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
