George Herriman Krazy Kat Sunday Comic Strip Hand-Colored Original Art dated 11-11-34 (King Features, 1934). To "coo" is "koo koo" in this nutty but nice Sunday. For once, it's not Ignatz wanting to throw a brick, but Dominic Dove! Krazy is featured in the majority of panels, while Ignatz is in the first and last panels, and Officer Pupp appears in the last -- all three major Krazy Kat characters. The art is in ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an approximate image area of 16.5" x 18". This piece was specially hand-colored and gifted by Herriman to famous humorist, journalist, and sports cartoonist Arthur "Bugs" Baer, who wrote the King Features column, "One Word Led To Another." The artwork has remained in the Baer family all these years; this is the first time it has ever been offered to the public. The stiff artboard is a bit wavy from old moisture damage, but the image does not seem to be affected, and a good framing will hide this minor problem. Overall Good condition.
