    Description

George Herriman Krazy Kat Sunday Comic Strip 1-7-17 Original Art (King Features Syndicate, 1917). Surreal and beautiful, this is a fantastic example of how lyrical Herriman's Krazy Kat could be. From the 38th Sunday offering of Krazy, it's a lovely story of how the Joshua trees dance at night to the songs of Don Kiyote. Herriman's New Mexico home was instrumental in his story-telling and setting in this strip. Many of the reg'lars are featured in this episode... Krazy, Ignatz, Offissa Pupp, Mock Duck, Joe Stork, and Walter Cephus Austrige. It's a masterpiece in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 18.5" x 22". The board is lightly toned, with pinholes in the corners. Signed in the lower image area, it is in Very Good condition. From A Collection of Great Cartoonists and Illustrators.
