George Herriman Krazy Kat Specialty Illustration Original Art (c. 1925). This piece, titled "Krazy Kat and friends discussing Agathelan in Monument Valley", is a gift illustration that was hand-colored by George Herriman himself. It was created for and given to the illustrator Henry Raleigh. This piece was featured in both the Museum of Modern Art in New York (2-19-12 through 5-14-12), and in the book Krazy Kat: The Comic Art of George Herriman (on page 75). Herriman's surreal work entertained and inspired many. You don't have to look hard to see his influence on other creators, such as Bill Holman's Smokey Stover, or more modern work such as Larry Marder's Tales of Beanworld. Produced in ink on illustration board with watercolors, this wonderful piece has a matted image area of 12" x 9". Featured characters include Krazy Kat, Walter Cephus Austrige, Joe Stork, Offisa Pupp, and Ignatz Mouse. The board is lightly tanned, with a very slight abrasion on the left side; however overall in Excellent condition, or, as Krazy may put it... in Egg-salunt condishy-on. From A Collection of Great Cartoonists and Illustrators.
