Gene Colan and George Klein Avengers #63 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1969). The first appearance of the new Goliath is one of the more impactful covers of the late-1960s run! This is the issue when Hank Barton aka Hawkeye takes over as Goliath from Henry Pym, and debuts a new costume that's all his own. Most of the series' covers from this time spotlit just a few team members, so it's great to have the whole roll call on hand: the Wasp, Yellowjacket (Hank Pym had just taken on this role a few issues prior), Captain America, the Vision, the Black Panther, Thor, Iron Man, and the Black Widow. Also, the title is integrated into the art in powerful fashion the way that Will Eisner might have done it! This piece has been in a private collection for some thirty years, and we're thrilled to be able to offer it to our bidders. Produced in ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 9.75" x 15". The main art area is on a separate board attached to the larger board. Goliath's right hand and Iron Man -- both original art -- are on separate pieces of board. Goliath's head is on a separate piece of board and is partially stat, with some original touch-ups to the face. There are some cuts in the back of the piece, common for covers of this era. All logo stats are original. The piece has been professionally cleaned. Very Good condition.
