Frederick Burr Opper Genoa Conference Editorial Comics Panel Original Art (New York American, 1922). A political fiasco by any standard, the Genoa Conference of 1922 sought to resolve differences among 34 nations, and to deal with concerns raised by the renegade nations of Germany and Russia. Opper (speaking for England and the U.S.) calls the conference "the hardest job I ever undertook" while proposing to bring in an intermediary -- "the White Knight in Alice in Wonderland." Brutal sarcasm, drawn in Opper's famous Happy Hooligan style. The incidental reference to "court plaster and arnica" (upper right quadrant) cites a now-archaic remedy for injuries. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 13". Moderately toned (light for its age) with minor edge wear, and in Very Good condition.
