Frank Thorne Red Sonja #1 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1977). Second only to Conan the Barbarian as the "most popular barbarian" in Marvel Comics, Sonja debuted as a supporting character in the Conan title in 1973, and soon earned her own series. She is based on Robert E. Howard's Red Sonya of Rogatino. Frank Thorne is the artist most closely associated with her, and this is one of his most exciting covers featuring the flame-haired female with the flashing steel and piercing gaze! Rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10.25" x 16". With only the lightest of toning, and pinholes in the margins, this is in Excellent condition.
