Frank Pé Zoo Volume 2 Page 105 Original Art and Color Page (Dupuis, 1999). In this magnificent saga in three volumes, Frank Pé was able to draw two of his passions: animals and Art nouveau architecture. All this is happening in a zoo (the Belgian cartoonist is a world specialist) which tries to keep going, as best it can, while World War I begins. A poignant, powerful and poetic story about the destiny of a group of people who are separated by everything, but whom the zoo and its feathered and furry inhabitants bring together. The page was created in ink on three sections of Bristol board joined on the reverse by tape. There is a photocopy of the fourth panel lightly taped over that panel. The page is signed by the artist in the lower margin. It is sold with the production original color artwork created in watercolor over a printed version of the line art. Each panel was trimmed out and affixed to a larger sheet of white paper. This page is signed by the artist in the lower margin as well. The inked page has an image area of 11.5" x 17.5", while the color page has an image area of 10.25" x 14.5". Both are in Excellent condition.
