Frank Miller and Klaus Janson Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #2 Superman and the President Page 28 Original Art (DC, 1986). Not many stories in the Batman canon are as influential as Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. Hall of fame comic book creator Frank Miller sought to create a fitting "end" for the character of Batman -- just as the Norse myths had their Ragnarok -- so would Batman eventually meet his demise. Many consider this epic the greatest Batman story ever told. Released in 1986, this story arc was responsible for the rejuvenation of Batman as a dark character, and a turning point for the comics industry as a whole. When pages from this saga surface, they seldom fail to fetch a commanding price -- as demonstrated by the TDKR #2 cover that we offered in August 2013. It hammered for the second-highest total ever for a lot in our comic art auctions, close to a half-million dollars. This incredible montage scene, from the very same issue, "The Dark Knight Triumphant," spotlights the President's patriotic appeal to Superman to reign in the Cowled Crusader. Batman and Carrie Kelley, the new female Robin, co-star. It has an image area of 11.75" x 17.75", and it's in Excellent condition. Signed by inker Klaus Janson in its lower right margin corner.
