    Description

Frank King Gasoline Alley Original Art Comic Strip dated 2-21-34 (Chicago Tribune Syndicate, 1934). King's fondness for the newspaper trade extended beyond his realm of cartooning. Here, he celebrates the art of typesetting -- a lost art, since the 1970s -- when schoolboy Skeezix Wallet becomes the owner of a boxful of loose type: "A jigsaw puzzle of our newspaper..." Inscribed as a Christmas gift to friends. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, approximately 20" x 5.75". Matted as if for framing. Moderate toning and handling wear. Very Good condition.
