Frank Brunner Phase #1 Story Page 6 Original Art (Sal Quartuccio Publ., 1971). Most Brunner enthusiasts associate this Conan-like breakthrough story with Marvel's Monsters Unleashed! #2 (1973), but that appearance was in fact an encore for a story that Brunner and co-writer Chuck Robinson had developed for the fanzine Phase. This striking sequence from "Sword of Dragonus" finds Brunner thoroughly well prepared for the higher-profile assignments that would follow. Ink and layered pencil-shading on Bristol board.
