F.O. Alexander Finney of the Force Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 8-12-31 (Western Newspaper Union, 1931). Alexander, alias Alex, joined the ranks of the great kid-stuff cartoonists with Finney of the Force, a streetwise neighborhood feature in the tradition of Gene Byrnes' Reg'lar Fellers and Merrill Blosser's Freckles and His Friends. This display of tough-guy chivalry is dated by a rubber-stamp imprint on the reverse, indicating its acceptance by a newspaper editor in Dallas. A non-specific inscription ("Sincerely") appears in final panel. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 25.5" x 6.5". Pronounced overall toning and marginal spot-staining. Very Good condition. From the Jack Kent Collection.
