Description

Don Martin Man and Mule Original Art (c. 1990s). Martin's grotesque caricatures and absurd humor earned him such a devoted following at MAD Magazine that he became known as "MAD's Maddest Artist." This unique stand-alone gag breaks ranks with Martin's habit of building a scenario in several panels, confining the gag to one image -- a desert tramp, swapping clothing with his mule. Delicately layered coloring lends depth and an incongruous scenic beauty to the bizarre situation. The publishing pedigree is undocumented. Ink and watercolors over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 7" x 9.5". Faint toning. Excellent condition.
