Dave Stevens Rocketeer: The Official Movie Adaptation #1 Cover Original Art (Disney, 1991). The best Stevens piece we have offered to date, without a doubt! An iconic image of the artist's wildly popular fan-favorite creation, The Rocketeer, with a personalized inscription on the reverse, signed on July 4th, 1991 by Stevens. Bold and striking, it is produced in ink over blue pencil on Bristol board. There is a piece of Bristol that was taped on at the time of creation to extend the top image area, presumably so the logo would not completely obscure the flag. Another small bit of original art was pasted on to extend the flagpole. These are all original art pieces and reflected in the published cover. This created an image area of 12.5" x 18.5". Matted and ready to frame, this is one honey of an image! In Excellent condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
