    Description

Dave Cockrum and Sam Grainger X-Men #95 Story Page 11 Original Art (Marvel, 1975). This is from only the second regular issue of the new X-Men, and their third story overall. Colossus, Storm, and Wolverine take on the Ani-Men in a scene similar to the issue's cover. Another sign that this is an early tale: there's a mention of Wolverine's claws being "fake," as the creators were still working on the assumption that Wolvie's claws were in his gloves. Produced in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". There are some handling smudges to the edges, stain spots within the art, production tape on top and bottom, and cut-in panel correction for the penultimate panel (taped with masking tape on back). In Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
