Dan O'Neill Possibly Not the Best Moment... Showdown Scene Original Art featuring Odd Bodkins Characters (1977). O'Neill, a pioneer of the Underground Comix movement, delivers a frontier scene in terms of black comedy. The artist is an alumnus of the controversial Air Pirates cartoon collective, and the originator of the progressive and satirical comic strip known as Odd Bodkins (San Francisco Chronicle). Three characters of the Odd Bodkins species appear in this piece at upper right, along with O'Neill's customary anthropomorphic sun. Inscribed at upper margin. Felt-marker ink and Design Marker color-shading on watercolor page-stock. Image area, 11" x 14", framed to 13.75" x 16.75". Some fading in the colors. Excellent condition.
