    Description

Dan DeCarlo (attributed) Archie Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 4-15 (King Features Syndicate & Archie Comics, c. 1980s). A classic corny joke, this sequence recaptures the early spirit of Bob Montana's original Archie concept. The stylistic flourishes and fluid inking are consistent with latter-day Archie artist DeCarlo. (The year is undocumented.) Ink over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board. Image area, 18" x 5.25". The piece had contained Zipatone shading film, but these patches have fallen away, leaving adhesive stains. Marginal notes (lower left) specify "dot BD [benday, or Zipatone] on Arch" and "stripe BD on [Veronica]." Very Good condition.
