    Description

Dame Darcy Meat Cake #1 Partial Story Original Art Group of 2 (Fantagraphics Books, 1993). No grander example exists of Darcy's neo-Victorian cartooning style, nor of her dreamlike narrative sense. The combination of artistic delicacy and brash absurdity is irresistible. Two pages (Page 1 and 3) of a four-page story depicts Darcy's signature character, Richard Dirt, on a quest for the ideal house-pet. More than somewhat reminiscent of the great ink stylist Edward Gorey. Ink over graphite on sketch-pad stock. Image area, 8" x 10.5". Excellent condition.
