Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson Action Comics #411 Story Page Original Art Story Page 16 (DC Comics, 1972). Prophetic sequence from a story involving a corporate raider's assault on Superman's Fortress of Solitude, 'way off in the frozen North. The period's streamlining of the Superman myth had started with such radical changes as the "Kryptonite Nevermore!" epic, but a more conservative re-approach prevailed in the continuation of such 1960s imagery as the Fortress and its many galactic trophies. The scene enacted here combines the midcentury Superman mythology with a bold new direction, to the finer point of an incidental argument between Superman and his feisty cousin, Supergirl. Splendid art from Swan and Anderson, as usual. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Light toning and handling wear, with marginal tape residue. Excellent condition. From the Murphy Anderson Collection.
