William Stout Juicy #1 Unpublished Back Cover Original Art (1973). Evidence suggests that Stout -- yes, the famed dinosaur artist of times more recent -- had intended this group-portrait panorama as the back-cover image for an Underground-type comic called Juicy. Stout includes a self-caricature (back row) and a likeness of fellow artist Bill Ogden. No archival record exists for such a title, and the caption (below) contains blank spaces that might once have contained the term Juicy. Out of its proposed context, the piece is a delightful study in cartoon-character parody, including riffs on assorted Disney personalities. Ink and Zipatone shading over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 10" x 14". Moderate toning and scattered adhesive stains. Very Good condition.
