Wendy Pini - Elfquest #2 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1985). In 1985, Warp Graphics and Marvel Comics teamed up to produce the first newsstand released Elfquest series, with the blessing of co-creators Richard and Wendy Pini. This alliance was interesting in the fact that it was the first contract for a creator-owned comics series to be distributed by one of the major comics companies through newsstands. This dramatic illustration from the second Epic edition, features the Wolfriders striking out across the desert seeking a new holt, and realized as only Wendy Pini can. The angst and struggle of this scene is etched into every line and is quite hard to forget. The art measures 10" x 15" and is in Excellent condition. From the collection of Richard and Wendy Pini. Richard says: "When we signed the license in 1985 that allowed Marvel Comics to reprint the original Elfquest story for newsstand distribution, we realized that because our issues were 32 pages long and Marvel's were 22 pages, they'd need new covers and new bridging pages to make everything work. Wendy found scenes that had never appeared on any of the Warp Graphics covers, and turned them into eye-catching new vignettes."
