Description

Wally Wood Tales from the Crypt #26 Cover Original Art (EC, 1951). Classic Wood cover from EC's popular horror anthology! The legendary artist uses his realistic style and expert inkwork to create a haunting image of a body being exhumed from the grave after claims of holy ground desecration. The Crypt-Keeper, the Old Witch, and the Vault-Keeper assume their usual spots in the sidebar as the featured hosts for the bloodthirsty fans of twisted tales of the macabre. Twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 13.5" x 19.5". Slight toning, stat logo/header and host text/portraits along the left side, red key lines for lighting effects, missing bottom corner, small edge dents and tears on the bottom, abrasion and whiteout corrections, with staining and edge/handling wear. Signed by Wood on the lower left gravestone after his initial signature was moved from the bottom casket. In Very Good condition.
From the Roger Hill Collection.
