Description

Virgil Finlay Super Science Stories February 1943 "Circle of Youth" Cover Painting Original Art (Popular Publications, 1943). Virgil Finlay's cover for a sci-fi anthology evokes radiant transformation under alien gaze, echoing themes from Frank Belknap Long's "Circle of Youth". Finlay is best known for his black-and-white interior illustrations for the pulp magazines and painted few color covers. Nonetheless, he was an outstanding artist in both media, and his paintings show a remarkable sense of color and composition. Oil on illustration board with an edge-to edge image area of 10.5" x 14.5". Signed by Finlay in the image area. In Excellent condition.
