Virgil Finlay Famous Fantastic Mysteries September 1943 "Doorway Into Time" Cover Painting Original Art (Munsey, 1943). This anthology cover by Virgil Finlay captures pulp drama at its peak. A lovely, commanding woman is framed in the time portal as her male companion manipulates the controls and, in the distance, an alien creature wields a ray-emitting device. Inspired by C. L. Moore's "Doorway Into Time", the image radiates Finlay's signature blend of surreal menace and visual elegance, ensuring his place as a cornerstone of science fiction art. This cover appeared in the September 1943 issue, a copy of which is included. Painted in mixed media on illustration board with an image area of 10.5" x 14.5". Signed by Finlay in the image area. In Excellent condition.From the Howard Lowery Collection.
