Description
Vaughn Bodé Vaughn Bodé's Deadbone: The First Testament of Cheech Wizard, the Cartoon Messiah Cover Original Art (Northern Comfort Communications, 1974-75). A definitive representation of Bodé's erotic-fantasy characters in side-by-side images, exclusively created for a Canadian anthology. Bodé branched out well beyond the Underground Comix scene, appearing in the mass-market men's magazine Cavalier (among others) and the satirical National Lampoon, as well as head-shop pamphlets and Wally Wood's experimental Witzend. "Get yourself published, no matter how small the outlet," Bodé would advise hopeful cartoonists. The philosophy would get his work widely seen -- but often difficult to document, owing to his many small-edition appearances. This example is as rare as rare comes. Signed and dated (pre-publication) at lower edge. Ink and watercolors on textured illustration board. Image area, 9.5" x 12". Excellent condition.More information about Vaughn Bodé.
