Description
Tim Boxell Kyotl Cover Original Art (1971). Underground pioneer Boxell's fully painted cover design for a proposed comic-book title. The artist's customary interest in Lovecraftian horror shows to strong advantage in the image of a slithering, tentacled, serpentlike creature. The "Condemned by the Comics Code" logo (upper left) demonstrates the Underground artists' contempt for the mainline comic-book industry. Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with opaque watercolors. Image area, 7" x 9.75", matted to 11" x 14" and sealed under a plastic window. Light toning and wrinkling in matte. Excellent condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.More information about Tim Boxell. See also: Boxell, Tim, Grisly Artist. Lookup the Comic Book in our Guide
