Description

Ted Richards E.Z. Wolf #1 Cover Original Art (Rip Off, 1977). The legendary Air Pirates studio, of the Underground Comix movement, had run afoul of Disney's trademark-wranglers in 1971 over the notorious, Disney-influenced Air Pirates Funnies. A significant trace remained, however, with E.Z. Wolf, starring a character whom Air Pirates co-founder Richards had based upon Disney's Zeke Wolf, alias the Big Bad Wolf. This brilliantly conceived drawing also features a Funny Animals version of President Jimmy Carter. The piece graced the cover of one of two E.Z. Wolf books -- both issued almost simultaneously by rival Underground publishers. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 8" x 11.5". Faint toning. Excellent condition. From the Eric Sack Collection. From the Eric Sack Collection.
