Description

Stuart Immonen and José Marzan, Jr. Superman: They Saved Luthor's Brain! Cover Original Art (DC, 2000). Immonen designed this dynamic layout to suggest a poster for an imaginary grindhouse movie, complete with sensationalized title. (That title is a reference to an actual exploitation film, They Saved Hitler's Brain, from 1968.) The present selection appears without the formal trademark/title logotypes, which were inserted during production to fill the generously arrayed solid-black areas. The graphic novel is a compilation of single-issue Superman/Action Comics stories from 1987-1992, involving a resurrected Lex Luthor, who proves to be a clone bearing the original villain's consciousness. The piece bears Immonen's autograph at lower margin. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10.5" x 16". Excellent condition.
