DescriptionSkip Williamson - Original Poster Art, "Yippie Night at Second City" (1969). Here is the original art for the poster used to promote the improv comedy group Second City's fundraiser for the 1969 Chicago Eight trial of Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, et al. Artist Skip Williamson was a Chicago native who's work appeared in Bijou Funnies and other prominent underground comix. This is a large 13" x 20" detailed page, drawn in Rapidograph pen and zip-a-tone shading, with creative use of white-out, and nicely mounted and framed. There is a 2" crescent-shaped crack in the glass at the very edge of the frame, but it does nothing to diminish the appearance of the piece. Second City was located only two blocks from where the some of the riots took place, and John Belushi and Dan Akroyd were graduates of the Second City class of 1970. It's an incredible work of art with some real historic value, and worthy of a spot in the Smithsonian Museum.
