DescriptionSimon Bisley - Original Preliminary Cover Rough for Terminator: The Enemy Within #3 (Dark Horse, 1992). Simon Bisley exploded onto the comic scene in the early 1990's because of his exaggerated approach to proportion and avant garde compositions that challenged the accepted norms of the industry. His heroic figures echoed our society's fascination with the members of the WWF and their raw and, apparently, unstoppable power. Here is an early example of his work that uses a splatter airbrush effect with random dripped ink, as well as precise marker lines that appear to have been quickly swung across the surface. This creates a background that exudes a chaotic atmosphere which does little to affect the stoic figure of the Terminator. Simon Bisley's popularity has continued to grow and he will probably end up being considered one of the greatest comic artists of the era when his peers have long been forgotten. The Terminator image was pasted up after the background was finished. This piece of art measures 11"x17".
