Description
Sean Gordon Murphy Batman: Beyond the White Knight #8 Variant Cover Original Art (DC, 2023). The juxtaposition between Superman as a figure of light and hope and Batman as a brooding vigilante lurking in the shadows creates a stunning visual contrast on this impressive variant cover by fan-favorite artist Sean Gordon Murphy. Murphy's Batman: White Knight series was an immediate hit, leading to two subsequent continuation series, including most recently Batman: Beyond the White Knight, and several spin-offs. A major contributor to the series' popularity is the stunning artwork, exemplified by this piece from Murphy rendered in ink over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 8.25" x 12.5". This piece presents with whiteout corrections, original art paste-ups for Superman's face and near his legs, and minor handling wear. Two smaller color preliminaries are taped to the back of the board. Also included in this lot is a color preliminary rendered to the scale of the finished piece, along with a copy of the published comic.
