Description
Sal Buscema and Mike Esposito Sub-Mariner #26 Red Raven Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1970). It was the Bronze Age of comics, but this cover features two of Marvel's Golden Age heroes slugging it out! The Sub-Mariner was one of the first Marvel heroes, appearing in Marvel Comics #1 in 1939. And the Red Raven first appeared in Red Raven Comics #1 in 1940. Both were "revived" into the modern Marvel Universe. (Namor in Fantastic Four #4 in 1962, Red Raven in X-Men #44 in 1968.) This high-flying cover was created in ink and red ink key lines over graphite on World Color Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". The corner box, logo, and masthead are all printed paste-up. There is whiteout art correction on Raven's wings. Namor's right foot has been trimmed out and repositioned. This was taped back into place and has a small Bristol board patch taped from the reverse. Toned and in Good condition.More information about Sal Buscema. See also: Buscema, Sal Artist.
