DescriptionRobert Tanenbaum Cross of Iron Movie Poster Preliminary Original Art (Embassy Pictures, 1977). Sam Peckinpah's film about Nazis in conflict during WWII is given an interpretation similar to a famous poster for 1967's The Dirty Dozen. This large-scale, action-packed conceptual study was sidelined in favor of a stark, symbolic image for the final poster. Pictured (upper section) are star players Véronique Vendell, James Mason, James Coburn, and Maximilian Schell. Gouache on heavy illustration board. Image area, 16" x 25". Excellent condition.
