DescriptionRobert Crumb R. Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders Number 2 Album Cover Original Art (Blue Goose, 1976). While his legion of fans adore R. Crumb for his wild comic book stories and art, music has always been closer to Robert's heart. His teenage years were largely spent chasing down obscure old Blues 78 rpm records, and he began a collection that can only be called world class today. Along the way he learned to play guitar and banjo himself, and eventually formed a band of liked-minded record collectors and musicians who dug those old-time tunes. This brilliant cover illustration graced his band's second LP, and Robert drew a funny set of characters of himself and band mates Terry Zwigoff (who later went on to film the Crumb documentary and other major motion pictures), Allan Dodge, and fellow cartoonist Robert Armstrong (Mickey Rat). The mixed-medial art on illustration board has an image area of approximately 12.25" x 12.25", matted to an overall 15.75" x 19.75", and is in Excellent condition.
