Rick Hoberg and Mike Royer Tarzan Unused Cover Original Art (ERB Inc., c. 1970-80s). The Edgar Rice Burroughs company decided to produce their own line of comics (instead of licensing to Marvel or DC) for the foreign market. Russ Manning was their first artist and the Editor for the line. He hired Rick Hoberg to replace himself as artist, and wanted to create a "house style" look for the art. Mark Evanier took over as Editor for the line shortly after that. This is from the Evanier period. The cover was originally going to be titled "If the Island Dies", but seems to have been changed to "Island of Askorum". Rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10.25" x 15". Signed by Hoberg and Royer in the image area, then signed by Royer again in the lower right margin. The board has been creased across the middle of the art. Toned and in Very Good condition.
