Description

Rick Burchett Black Hood #1 Cover Autographed Original Art (DC/Impact, 1991). A seminal figure of the first-generation costumed-hero scene, the Black Hood had originated in 1940 as an Archie Comics trademark, then found a brief revival in 1983. The present selection comes from a 1991 revamp in connection with DC Comics' newfound control of the Archie/Red Circle characters. (A version of times more recent finds the Black Hood back under the Archie aegis.) A patent influence upon the character called Hooded Justice (as in Watchmen), the Black Hood receives a foreboding interpretation here from Burchett, whose autograph appears in the lower margin. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area of 10" x 15". Even, moderate toning. Excellent condition.
